Part Time Temporary Child Care Assistant
20 hours per week   This position is responsible for planning daily activities that foster the learning of positive behaviors, providing a safe and secure environment to the children at Women’s Advocates. In addition to planning daily activities, the Child Care Assistant is responsible for teaching the children coping skills, including conflict resolution. The position will assist with developing individual safety plans and provides transportation as needed.    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  Direct Services for Children ·         Provide daily activities, individual support and child care while role modeling positive behaviors. ·         Assist with individual safety plans while furthering each child’s conflict resolutions skills. ·         Maintains a positive working relationship with the mother of the children while maintaining policies and procedures. ·         Organize and plan activities for children that foster the opportunity to learn in an environment outside of the shelter. Data Systems and Files Maintenance ·         Maintain all records and forms necessary for the effective functioning of the program. ·         Collect and maintain accurate information on all residents with who you work. Training and Education ·         Identify, enroll and participate in various trainings in the area of domestic abuse, child development, crises intervention, data collection and management, and/or other trainings or classes that will enhance professional development. Other Duties ·         Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES ·         Bachelor’s degree preferred or one-three years experience working with children in a child care setting; and/or at-risk children. ·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ·         Good computer skills with demonstrated ability in Microsoft word and the internet; ·         Ability to prioritize, handle a variety of tasks and be self-directed; ·         Ability to handle client, administrative with complete confidentiality; ·         Demonstrated commitment to and experience with people of diverse cultural, ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds; ·         Valid driver’s license with current insurance and a reliable motor vehicle     People of color are encouraged to apply.
