Varangon Academy Direct Care Staff Position Summary: The primary duties of the Direct Care Staff are to provide supervision of clients, to insure the quality of the environmental management system, and to provide a consistent and positive role model for the clients entrusted to our care. Each worker must be able to conduct the different groups provided on the unit, participate in daily physical training, and supervise recreational activities. The Direct Care Staff is responsible for daily recording of every significant inappropriate behavior committed by the clients. Qualifications: High School Graduate at least 21 years old Must have good recommendations and satisfactory work record from previous employers as well as successful reference check. Have a complete background check for child care providers from a local police agency. Must successfully complete 2 week Directive Therapy training program and must pass Directive Therapy Exam with 90% or higher score. Must have knowledge of behavior contingency management. Completion of basic CPR, First Aid, OSHA Training, and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) physical intervention training. Competency Requirements: 1. Provide constant supervision and security of clients. 2. Participate in group therapy and/or unit meetings. 3. Document all significant, inappropriate behavior daily. 4. Document all services provided in detail to charts and program records. 5. Complete weekly report on assigned clients. 6. Provide individual and group therapy under supervision of licensed clinical services personnel. 7. Participate in restraint procedure when required. 8. Perform security checks, safety checks, room searches, and other assignments as required to insure the facility is safe, secure, and free from contraband. 9. Help to transport/move clients to and from various areas for activities. 10. Maintain documentation according to national accreditation and state licensor standards. 11. Supervise physical training and recreational activities. 12. Provide a consistently positive role model for the clients. 13. Monitor class rooms and act as an educational resource for clients in class. 14. Any other duties as assigned by Counseling Supervisor and Shift Supervisor.
