Privately-held global leader in aluminum rolled and extruded products, aluminum recycling and specification alloy production with more than 40 production facilities in the Americas, Europe and Asia is seeking to add an experienced Operations Manager for its team at their Clayton, NJ facility.
As a key member of the plant management team, the Operations Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and motivating the production team to achieve business results. This key player will provide leadership, guidance, and support to ensure production and quality standards meet customer requirements and company objectives.
Responsibilities Include
Direct the safe, efficient, cost effective manufacture of quality products to meet customer requirements and annual production volumes.
Direct and monitor department supervision to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. Act as liaison between department supervision/subordinate levels, as well as, executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
Formulate and recommend manufacturing programs and plans that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation, which includes new product development.
Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Direct the establishment, implementation, maintenance and ongoing review of production standards.
Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
Provide support in technical matters by participating in discussions of the metallurgy of aluminum and its alloys with other professionals, customers, vendors, engineers, etc.
Assist in hiring, training, development, coaching and evaluation of staff. Provide clear objectives to subordinates. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with Human Resources department as appropriate.
Work within the parameters created by the ISO9001:2008 quality system, including the preparation of the facility for quality system audits.
Required Qualifications:
Engineering Degree or similar qualification preferred.
7+ years experience in manufacturing and/or quality management.
Production supervision experience essential.
Lean and Six Sigma training / experience are desirable.
Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage systems and procedures.
Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally.
Strong leadership and decision making skills needed.
