The Marriott International HQ, located at Bethesda, MD is currently hiring for a MANAGER, MARKETING AND MEASUREMENT ANALYSIS

Responsibilities include: POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process.

The Manager, Marketing Measurement & Analysis will be tasked with supporting Global Marketing initiatives with a special focus on providing analytical measurement support for the Marriott Rewards loyalty program (which accounts for more than half of all room nights sold system wide and almost $10B in revenue annually).  Specifically, the Manager will determine the effectiveness of Marriott Rewards Global & Lifecycle promotions and also partner with stakeholders to ensure the continued adoption of a ‘test and learn’ approach in testing new marketing offers. In addition, the Manager will monitor/report on key program trends through the use of scorecards & dashboards, when appropriate, and share insights to enhance decision-making.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

·         Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analysis for business processes and/or projects. Often manages small projects, business processes or parts of larger ones.

·         Responds to, solves and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with limited to moderate risk. 

  • Responsible for own work and contributing to team, department and/or business results. May direct work of non-management staff.
  • Assists more senior associates in achieving business results by:

-                  identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of business processes.

-                  providing training and technical guidance to less senior staff, where appropriate, and serving as point-of-contact for problem resolution.

-                  participating in setting department operating plans.

-                  recognizing and celebrating team successes.

-                  achieving results against budget within scope of responsibility.

  • Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and areas for improvement and acts independently to improve and increase skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams tasked with designing & implementing promotions
  • Support the pre-promotion planning process for Marriott Rewards department via the development of proforma to understand financial hurdles and help marketing teams leverage past learnings and ensure the continued adoption of a ‘test and learn’ approach to testing new offers.
  • Structure Offer tests and develop control groups to measure the impact of Marriott Rewards Global & Lifecycle promotions while also looking for opportunities to maximize the learning from such promotions
  • Determine effectiveness of Marriott Rewards Global & Lifecycle promotions employing appropriate analytical methodologies
  • Monitor/report key program statistics at appropriate intervals using reports, scorecards and dashboards by leveraging business intelligence tools such as Microstrategy; share key insights on program performance and member activity trends to enhance decision-making
  • Develop  new member enrollment goals and associated methodology in consultation with senior management
  • Identify / develop appropriate measurement criteria to determine effectiveness of new member acquisition efforts
  • Participate in organization and work planning process with Marketing Measurement & Analysis team
  • Special projects as assigned, including ad hoc requests for information related to the Marriott Rewards program and/or other Sales & Marketing initiatives

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

·         Generally a professional position with specific knowledge in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Resources). 

·         College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.

 

Specific Candidate Profile:

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate leadership and relationship skills as follows:

  • Experience in applying statistical knowledge to solving business specific problems such as sampling techniques, significance testing and cause/effect relationship analysis
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office, esp. Excel/Access for data analysis, manipulation & reporting and PowerPoint for presentation of promotion results.  Basic programming knowledge of SAS highly preferred
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy a plus
  • Familiarity with Marriott systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of financial statements/analysis
  • Ability to be innovative and use imagination to solve problems
  • Bias for accuracy and detail, with strong analytical skills (including integrating high volume of data from multiple sources)
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated, but able to work as a team member to achieve results in a teamwork environment
  • Manages time well, correctly prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines on multiple projects
  • Composure to deliver results under tight deadlines
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional interpersonal relationships with all levels of corporate staff
  • Achieve customer satisfaction by delivering excellent products and following up as necessary

 

Academic / Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. finance, operations research, economics, mathematics)
  • 5+ years experience in sales & marketing, financial analysis or related field
  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus
