RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review new and existing claims in conjunction with underwriting contracts.
- Review and interpret reinsurance policies to determine coverage.
- Make recommendations on actions to be taken on all claims.
- Preparation of reports for management outlining claims developments in the area of large losses, assessment of coverage, liability and damages, reserving and adjustments of claims.
- Review of contracts and legal documents.
- Work in conjunction with internal and external counsel on claims matters and participate in legal negotiations when necessary.
- Adherence to claim guidelines pursuant to the Claims Manual.
- Liaise with finance regarding claims payments and recoveries.
- Participate in claim initiatives as directed.
- Participate in the claims cycle of Japanese Sarbanes Oxley and internal/external audit.
- Training and development of junior staff.
- Ad hoc duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 5 years experience in Property & Casualty reinsurance claims (mainly US).
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Possession of or significant progress towards a recognized insurance qualification would be an advantage.
- The ability to manage internal and external relationships.
- Experience in reviewing and analyzing claims, conducting claims investigations and a proven ability to make effective decisions.
- Strong analytical, organizational and customer service skills.
