Laboratory Director
Description The Laboratory Director is accountable for ensuring that appropriate and timely specimen handling, delivery, specimen testing, results reporting are provided in an efficient and cost effective manner in accordance with laboratory and hospital policies and procedures. The Director is also responsible for ensuring that all laboratory procedures being performed in areas of responsibility will comply with all regulatory, accrediting, and licensure requirements.
Requirements
- Must have a minimum of three to five years clinical laboratory experience.
- Prefer one to three years management experience.
- Demonstrates skills in communication, conflict resolution and human relations.
- Exhibit a team approach.
- Knowledgeable of fiscal and general healthcare issues, trends, quality management and legal aspects of laboratory practice and standards.
- Possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public.
- Able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.
- Requires good interpersonal skills.
- Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to function effectively in fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines.
- Position requires some overtime and ability to coordinate several activities simultaneously.
