Position Description:
The Huntington’s Disease Society of America is the largest voluntary health non-profit dedicated to the improving the lives of people with Huntington's Disease and their families. With our 40 chapters and affiliates across the nation, we provide care for those living with HD today, while we work tirelessly towards a cure. The Huntington’s Disease Society of America is seeking an experienced Manager, Individual & Major Giving to work with the Chief Executive Officer to manage and grow all aspects of individual and major giving in support of our mission. This position will be located in our New York City office.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the CEO to expand the number of individual and major donors through the
cultivation, solicitation and effective stewardship of current donors and prospects.
2. Participate in the evaluation, refinement, and implementation of new individual and major giving
strategies to contribute to the growth of the program and Society.
3. Manage the Society’s Family Fund program; including support for existing Funds, establishment
of new Funds, and all related correspondence.
4. Coordinate annual Guthrie Awards Dinner, and other cultivation events as required, including
developing attendee list, event logistics and vendor interaction.
5. Draft and edit written materials and coordinate donor mailings, including solicitations, renewals,
acknowledgements, proposals and reports.
6. Oversee gift acknowledgements for all donors of $250 or above to ensure that all are
acknowledged appropriately and in a timely manner.
7. Maintain systems of tracking donors, including but not limited to donor communications and
acknowledgements.
8. Help identify, research, and pursue new funding sources.
9. Support the Society’s planned giving program as required.
10. Work collaboratively with program, research, field and finance staff to prepare materials and
support goals and objectives.
11. Perform all other duties and tasks, as assigned by the CEO.
12. Maintain extensive awareness of the Society’s constituents, programs, features and benefits.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
• Passion for Society’s mission and demonstrated commitment to the non-profit sector.
• Minimum three years of non-profit fundraising experience with a proven track record of raising funds
from donors through personally implemented fund development strategies.
• Strong interpersonal skills and social savvy; experience working with board members and donors
required.
• Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college or university.
• Some supervisory experience.
• Excellent written communication, speaking and organizational skills.
• Talent for juggling multiple projects and flair for creative thinking.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and relational databases.
