The Department of Public Health and Community Medicine´s faculty represent diverse areas of interest, including epidemiology and biometry, environmental and occupational health, nutrition, public health policy, and the social and economic aspects of the health care system. It is engaged in research in nutrition and infectious diseases in the U.S. and around the world in locations such as Argentina, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Vietnam. The department directs research efforts at issues affecting the community at large and its individuals. It also seeks to educate medical and graduate students.

The Research Coordinator will be working with a research team to conduct clinic visits, office and lab protocols for the grant funded HOST study (150 participants seen 12 times over 2 years).

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining a strict schedule for visits and providing support in the lab (blood processing, pulling samples, updating the freezer database);
  • Screening/enrolling/scheduling and preparing participants for visits; Completing tasks as needed by the Project Manager;
  • Tracking participants by phone, letter and community to maintain the cohort;
  • Maintaining Laboratory Protocols for: Blood processing and sorting, pulling of blood samples and updating the freezer database.

Basic Requirements: A bachelor´s degree with 3 - 5 years of related experience. Knowledge of Mircrosoft Office and ACT.

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to follow a detailed protocol; exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills; flexibility and maturity to handle stressful setting and balance multiple tasks; ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients; and the ability to work independently and know when to refer a decision.
