Position: Actuary Life Product Development Company: Insurance Organization Location: Ontario Job ID: 17512 RESPONSIBILITIES: - The Product Support Actuary helps the AVP, Life Product Development and Support to design and price complex individual life insurance products for the US marketplace that meet both business unit marketing and financial goals. - The position reports to AVP, Life Product Development and Support. - A total of 8 individuals report up to the position. - Helping the AVP, Life Product Development and Support manage all aspects of the product development process. - This includes reviewing all new product financials at 2 different management check point meetings. - Managing and mentoring staff, particularly actuarial students. - Developing assumptions for all of our new product pricings. - Responsible for the production of the annual New Business Plan and monthly reporting of profitability. - Responsible for overseeing any special case pricing initiatives which includes 2 proprietary underwriting programs as well as financial reviews of large cases. QUALIFICATIONS: - Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA). - Minimum of 1 - 2 years actuarial pricing and product development experience in positions of increasing responsibility preferably with US individual life insurance product and regulatory knowledge. - Analytical and problem-solving ability combined with very strong technical actuarial skills. - Strong organizational and priority management skills with the ability to lead multiple projects and manage the work of others to achieve high quality results under deadline pressure. - Excellent communication (particularly written) and interpersonal skills to deal with both technical and non-technical audiences and customers. - Knowledge of Canadian GAAP and US Stat financial reporting standards is very helpful.
