Position: Director/Actuary, Capital Management Company: Insurance Organization Location: Ontario Job ID: 17509 RESPONSIBILITIES: - Review the MCCSR guidelines and related internal policies and ensure current interpretations are valid and applied appropriately. - Develop, expand and document internal capital policies for topics where the MCCSR is silent or ambiguous. - Research issues where MCCSR treatment has been identified to be silent or ambiguous or where application such treatment needs to be changed or updated. - Recommend appropriate treatment and document conclusions. - Coordinate preparation of the annual MCCSR Certification memo detailing interpretations and judgments applied in the determination of the company's MCCSR filings. - At the request of other areas (Divisions, Investments, Tax, Treasury), participate in the analysis and review the impact on capital of possible strategies and/or transactions. - Ensure that the impact on Company’s capital position is taken into account when these transactions are structured. - Provide support to the divisions to assist them in determining capital impact of projects they are undertaking and answering questions concerning appropriate capital treatment. - Remain abreast of capital issues in various jurisdictions, including Canada, US and Asia. QUALIFICATIONS: - FSA, FCIA - Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as ability to process large amounts of information and summarize effectively. - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. - Ability to work independently as well as a member of a cross-functional team. - Ability to manage time and resources effectively to achieve high quality results under tight deadlines. - Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. - Good interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain good working relationships with contacts across the company. - Knowledge of the Canadian capital regimes is preferable. Knowledge of other local jurisdiction regimes would also be helpful
