The Department of Family Medicine is actively involved in patient care and clinical teaching with an emphasis on the principles and practice of outpatient primary care and managed health care. The division also has clinical faculty in a variety of community settings within the Boston area. It has a substantial role in the Tufts Family Medicine Residency Program via various affiliations across greater Boston and in Maine. The diversity of these programs, with service to urban, suburban, and rural populations, and a strong clinical base, represents a major strength for the department.

The Program Administrator is responsible for managing the Department of Family Medicine´s medical education activities. Duties include:

  • Overseeing the administrative activities of a variety of both clinical and pre-clinical courses;
  • Preparing educational materials;
  • Overseeing student placements at community and residency sites;
  • Facilitating faculty schedules and educational activities;
  • Assisting with grant formatting and submission;
  • Overseeing the day-to-day administrative activities of the department by acting as the frontline contact person;
  • Making travel arrangements for department faculty;
  • Coordinating faculty promotions and appointments;
  • Scheduling a variety of activities to support office operations;
  • Maintaining department chair´s calendar;
  • Managing and assisting with other related projects as necessary.

Basic Requirements: A Bachelor´s degree with 3-5 years of related experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Office. Email communication and Internet experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to execute multiple tasks concurrently; excellent oral and written communication skills; attention to detail; ability to anticipate departments needs; professionalism, maturity, and positive attitude; ability to work independently and learn new software packages; prioritize and problem solve effectively; strong organizational, time management and customer service skills; ability to maintain absolute confidentiality, work with people from different backgrounds and take direction.

This position is 26.25 hours per week.
