Responsibilities include managing all internal and external communications, departmental staff and budget, supporting business development and client relationship building efforts, and working collaboratively with staff in other bank business units. External Communications • Promote and sustain a strong corporate image including creating opportunities for significant, positive media coverage for the bank • Facilitate media interviews and respond to requests for information • Build and foster long-term working relationships with various media outlets, industry trade associations and advocacy groups, research institutions, and governmental agencies • Prepare and/or oversee development of news releases, speeches, news materials, fact sheets and talking points for publicity of the organization's programs and to ensure the delivery of a clear and consistent message • Identify opportunities for the bank to sponsor industry trade events and coordinate the organization’s participation in such events • Interact with key client’s in a manner which deepens the overall client relationship and enhances the client’s perception of the bank Internal Communications • Demonstrate an in depth understanding of the business and the ability to translate business needs into a strategic communications plan that advances the company's goals • Coach and influence company leaders to help them understand how internal communications can help drive the realization of the Company’s objectives • Lead the strategic planning, development, implementation and coordination of all internal communications programs to further company objectives and bring the mission, vision and values of the company to life • Lead the organization and utilization of the bank's Intranet / Internet sites as a communication tool Work with bank affiliates • Build and foster collaborative relationships with sister organizations within the overall bank group to stay informed and abreast of new initiatives, products, services, and corporate directives • Ensure all company communications adhere to bank standards for communications messages and policies • Initiate and lead the development of cross organizational communications programs Manage Department • Lead the development of a strategic communication plan to support the organization's mission, goals and objectives • Manage and mentor staff • Mange and maximize value of departmental budget
 
Job Requirements • Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field • At least 10 years of working experience in corporate communications • Excellent verbal and written communication skills: ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form; specific skills in writing press releases and articles/stories for traditional and electronic media • Ability to identify a communication need, develop content and coordinate delivery of message • Knowledge of how to present information to different audiences including general public, media, to high level decision-makers • Analytical and conceptual skills to think and plan strategically • Skills and experience in communication programs, monitoring, review and evaluation • Superior project management and organizational skills • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Experience with Web-Based, Video, Live, Broadcast and Podcast communication • Approximate 20% travel required • Agricultural experience and/or exposure at some point in life or career
