POSITION OBJECTIVE:  To provide direct employee care within the scope of the state's practice act. This position will provide nursing services to a manufacturing plant located in Dalton, GA.  To provide health appropriate evaluations and treatment for work and non-work related injuries or illnesses. This position also handles case management strategies for work related injuries/ illnesses. Use of an approved employee health record keeping system and compliance with regulatory requirements to maintain confidentiality of personal health information are required. Participate and coordinate pre-placement or post-employment health assessments. Conduct and coordinate health surveillance of individuals or groups for specific requirements (hearing conservation, respiratory protection, DOT Testing, and vision screening) as well as maintain OSHA-required documentation.

This position aids in the coordination of: medical claims adjusters, medical personnel, workers compensation, FMLA, STD, LTD, training including CPR, First Aid, AED certification and blood borne pathogen training. This position also coordinates and implements: annual Blood Drives and a wellness program. Maintain adequate medical supplies for facility clinics while remaining fiscally responsible. Provide, coordinate, and access all drug and alcohol screenings as approved in the HR drug policy.

REQUIRED SKILLS: RN/ LPN with a current license to practice nursing in the State of GA.  5 + years Occupational Health experience strongly preferred or 3-4 years experience in acute care or hospital setting.  Individuals must be tobacco free as they are involved in health and wellness initiatives.

PREFERRED SKILLS:  Current CPR certification. The nurse must be able to work with confidential matters and be able to read, write, and interpret information. The nurse must have good knowledge of computer operations and software including Microsoft Word and Excel, email and filing. This is a first shift position, M-F 7AM-4PM, but does require ability to be on-call for all off shift needs.  The ability to speak, read and write Spanish is preferred.

TOP 5 ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  Essential duties include Health and Wellness initiatives, Case Management of Workers’ Compensation, coordinate health surveillance (post-employment physicals, hearing conservation, vision screening, etc.), maintain employee medical files in accordance with records retention and medical confidentiality, and communicate with plant management consistently at all locations.
