The successful candidate will be part of a team focused on the development of leading-edge L1 physical layer signal processing software for 3G (UMTS) Release 6 and 7 standardized radio networks.
The successful candidate will be part of a team focused on the development of leading-edge L1 physical layer signal processing software for 3G (UMTS) Release 6 and 7 standardized radio networks.
This position will involve developing and debugging the physical layer of UMTS modem, understanding and handling memory layout issues, inter-task and inter-processor communication, as well as investigating and resolving integration and L1 performance related issues for the DSP and mixed signal hardware.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science with courses in real-time/embedded systems, data structures, computer architecture or communication systems
- A Graduate Degree with an emphasis on Digital Signal Processing and wireless communications would be an asset
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing L1 software for standardized wireless communication systems (e.g. GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WCDMA, WiFi) and/or next generation technologies (LTE).
- Experience in protocol stack integration or field testing of L1 would also be an asset
- Practical experience with real-time OS firmware development, inter-processor communication strategies, low-level drivers and hardware interfacing as well as debugging on multi-processor hardware architectures
- Lab experience using embedded debuggers, test equipment (base station simulators), logging equipment or Software diagnostic tools
