Quality Engineering Manager
Quality Engineering Manager – Collect, analyze, and report key corporate measurables, i.e., internal and external quality PPM's, delivery PPM's, process capabilities, etc. as directed by UGN corporate vision and goals, to provide direction and analysis of progress toward achieving world-class quality practices. Plan and oversee the quality control functions, inspections, material review, corrective action, and associated reporting of information to assure the quality of product or component. Administer and direct internal quality control programs, such as Engineering Changes, SPC (Statistical Process Control) activities, and Measurement Systems Analysis to ensure all customer required special characteristics are monitored and reported as required. Monitor OEM warranty databases for all product lines - develops Warranty Performance Forecasting outlining potential risks. Monitor and measures Warranty performance and history, analyzes product quality concerns and proposes solutions. Utilize data to focus team efforts on reducing warranty costs and warranty cost recovery exposure. Participate in warranty reviews at Customer Warranty Review Centers. Communicate in a timely manner warranty activities with Engineering, Manufacturing, SQA Group and customer where appropriate and manages warranty recovery process between customers, divisions and suppliers. Investigate internal and external quality issues, propose corrective actions and reports findings. Review and report customer quality ratings and propose corrective action with the responsible areas. Maintain customer contacts to resolve quality issues at customer locations. Investigate RGA requests, propose action and report to management. Administer quality assurance functions of advanced planning and engineering. Recommend and implement with the Quality Coordinator through the customer approval process, any design modification to ease potential manufacturing liabilities at UGN or at the customer. Follow-up with proposed course of action where tolerance deviations must be negotiated. Maintain record of Customer Specification Revisions in compliance with vendor and UGN quality requirements. Assist in supplier quality development where applicable. Assist in developing ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 based procedures and instructions. Prepare and present technical and program information to the management team. Participate in quality management teams within UGN. Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products. Design and implement quality training programs for key personnel. Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards. Must be hands-on and shop floor focused. Directly supervise four Quality Engineers.
Requirements - Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in engineering and 5 years of experience in the job offered or 5 years of experience developing and maintaining quality system for products. Special skills - 1 year of experience directing and managing all physical and organizational aspects of production to meet production requirements; 3 years of experience with APQP process; and 3 years of experience developing FMEAs and Control Plans. 75% travel to visit all UGN plants as well as customers in the US and internationally.
