Senior Mechanical Engineers
Design, develop and test automotive body structural and plastic components by using CATIA VS and considering GD&T, DFMEA, Weld feasibility, sheet metal stamping and process, joining processes, paint and drain, serviceability, ergonomics, manufacturing and assembly conditions, material selection. Create conceptual class “A” surface from scans, point clouds and master sections to identify quality data concerns. Plan structure of stamped steel parts through target setting, packaging and style feasibility. Design and develop 2D and 3D drawings and specifications necessary to support the development of new products and modification of existing products. Cross functional department meetings for developing most efficient design solutions by considering safety guidelines and OEM requirements. Perforce countermeasures studies and root cause analysis for different issues relating to quality based on CAE and stamping feedback. Create 2D drawings with enough data to ensure that the part could be manufactured gauged for functionality. Create part specification requirements and BOM. Perform Tolerance stack-up analysis.
Requirements: Master’s Degree or foreign degree equivalent in Mechanical Engineering and one year’s experience in position or one year’s experience in Automotive Engineering field (or Bachelor’s Degree and five years’ experience).
Special requirements: Experience with automotive body components; CATIA; sheet metal stamping and process; and 2D and 3D drawings. Travel to various unanticipated client sites required. May reside anywhere in the United States.
