Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
Develop mechanical system design solutions based on engineering principles using knowledge of engineering materials and their associated manufacturing processes, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (G,D&T), Microsoft Office, 3D CAD: SolidWorks or Creo, and MRP. Identifies and defines parameters of mechanical systems which are critical to system output to ensure robust design. Designing and testing product to meet requirements of major standards organizations (ASTM, ASME, UL or ISO, etc.). Communicates, both verbal and written, to assure all groups are working toward the goal of timely project completion. Schedules, develops agendas, facilitates and documents project meetings. Communicate technical details, ideas, and concepts to engineers and non-engineers. Exhibits vision and foresight to test the extremes of a design and guide the team members through well thought out, logical test regimes. Strive to meet market driven design guides and fulfill cost, timing, reliability, and manufacturing requirements. Identify project risks and implement risk reduction plans. Resolve operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases. Interacts with manufacturing plants and outside suppliers to achieve project goals. Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budget. Provide critical review and guidance to teammate’s analysis and design. Capable of critical thinking, long term planning, design and analysis to ensure success of projects. Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design. Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements. Create accurate documentation to support NPI process including FMEA, DVP&R, BOM, Routing, 3D drawing, and instruction manuals. Define support equipment, fixtures, test methods, and parts from external suppliers. Support manufacture, build and validation of systems. Make engineering changes as necessary and documents the amendments accordingly.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or foreign degree equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Physics and ten years’ experience in position or ten years’ in electromechanical design engineering.
Special requirements: Experience with engineering materials and their associated manufacturing process; identifying or defining parameters of mechanical systems critical for system output; Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (G,D&T); Microsoft Office; 3D CAD: SolidWorks or Creo; MRP; and designing and testing product to meet requirements of major standards organizations (ASTM, ASME, UL or ISO, etc.). Travel to various unanticipated client sites required. 10% Domestic and international travel required.
